Godspeed Arts and Rubylith Darkroom present

Ruby
Red
Gala

Rubylith Darkroom is growing! As we expand the darkroom, we’re also replacing some of the equipment that helped get us started. We're reaching out to our community to raise the funds we need—not just to rebuild, but to grow into a more sustainable and thriving space!

With your support, we plan to:

  • Build a film digitizing station
  • Upgrade light-proofing of the darkroom
  • Update and procure equipment including: film drying cabinet, diffusion head 4x5 enlarger, and larger sink
  • Install a light-proof ventilation system
  • Improve storage and workflow in the space
  • Expand community programming including workshops, lectures, critiques, and community film processing days

Godspeed is pleased to announce a gala to benefit our darkroom, Rubylith.

The inaugural Ruby Red Gala will be a night of celebration for our community and darkroom, with music, drinks, a paper negative photo booth with Pat Garcia, an exhibition of the work of the members of Rubylith Darkroom and critique community members, and a live raffle of goods and experiences including:

  • A darkroom printing class with Rosemary Haynes
  • A portrait session with Sophie Joseph Schwartz
  • Limited edition photography books directly from artists including Lee Friedlander and Barbara Bosworth

Come celebrate with us dressed in your best red attire!

The event will take place on Saturday, August 2, 7-10 pm at Godspeed, 130 Palmetto St, 4th Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11221.
